Ciarán cruises to victory

Congratulations to all our Minor and Junior athletes that took part in Friday's North Leinster cross country championships. With 51 schools registered and 1,200 athletes going to the line, this was sure to be a dogfight. And a dogfight is just what the St. Aidan's athletes love.
Ciarán McManus timed it perfectly to win the Minor Race, helping his team to 2nd overall. Dan Lacey, following in his Family's fine athletic tradition in the school, led the Junior team home in 3rd place.
So next up is the Leinster Finals on Feb 11th where we will have 4 teams running. Good luck to all and well done.

Seniors reach the Summit

Today was a historic day for our Senior Footballers. The majority of these mighty men have stood shoulder to shoulder for the past 5 years and today they found themselves in the promised land. This was the school's first Senior 'A' title in 43 years. When one thinks of the greats that never got their hands on this cup, Tom Brady, Joey Boland,  Paul Clarke, Mark Kinsella to name but a few, it puts this achievement into perspective.
The final scoreboard read 2.16 - 2.06 against an impressive Maynooth side that was going for a hat trick of Senior 'A' titles. This was a fitting destination for a remarkable journey. The team suffered heartbreak last year in the All-Ireland Final, but like all great sportsmen and all great students, they learned, regrouped and reloaded the rockets. We are deeply proud of you, your  coaches and your clubs. Well done!

Congratulations to all students from each year who had full attendance and punctuality
at assemblies last Thursday and that were lucky enough to win a prize in the draw. Keep up the good

Stop Animation

Transition years enjoy a variety of new experiences during the year. One of these is Stop Animation in Art where students design a story board and model figures in plasticine. They then go to the computer room to make their Stop Animation piece and add music to it. We have some budding animators in Transition Year.

Calling all Art past pupils

Here at St Aidan’s we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary and as part of the various events this year we are having a pass pupil exhibition in  early 2015, date has yet to be confirmed .
I am writing to ask you to submit a piece of Art could be a drawing, painting, photograph, graphic design, three dimensional piece, video or animated drawings.  There are no limits to the wonderful world of Art.
Let it reflect where Art is in your life, be it as a career or simply for pleasure. For the students and staff here in school it would be lovely to celebrate and enjoy your creative talents in the place in which it all began.
The school reopens on the 5th January 2015, please feel free to drop in your piece to the office or Art Room as early as you can in January.
I will take good care of your work and after the exhibition you can collect it or I can return it to you.
Looking forward to hearing from all our pass pupils with a love of Art.
