Halloween in St. Aidan's CBS

On Thursday and Friday we had wonderful afternoons of gothic poetry and
short story readying in the school library. On Friday the students we asked
to dress in costume to be eligible for lovely prizes. Our non-uniform day
was also a fund-raiser for supporting positive mental health in the school.IMAG2894

Open Evening

This year the Open Evening took place on Thursday 21st September. It was very busy with lots of enthusiastic parents and students wanting to see the school. The

parents were very impressed with how helpful our students were on

the night. A big thanks to all the staff and students involved.

Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy.

The St Aidan's Athletics team were invited to the conferring of an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy to Sonia O' Sullivan on the 12th of September in DCU. The students were very excited to be invited to this event.

The President of the University, Mr. Brían MacCraith commented on how special it was to have the future stars from St. Aidan's C.B.S there and how impeccably well behaved the students were.

After the ceremony the students had an opportunity to meet and talk to arguably Ireland's greatest ever female athlete Sonia O Sullivan. She posed for this terrific picture with the students.

Awards Night

Mr. P Ward always organises the event so well. Ms. K Morris MC on the night did a wonderful job, in her very efficient way introduced speakers and moved the night along so smoothly.

Our guest speaker on the night was Mr. Noel Rock T.D. a past pupil of the school. Noel Rock is the youngest Fine Gael Dublin T.D. representing the Ballymun Electoral Area, which includes Drumcondra, Glasnevin, Whitehall, Beaumont, Santry, Finglas and Ballymun. He is a member of a number of Oireachtas Committees, including: Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation; Public Accounts; and Budgetary Scrutiny. Thanks to Noel informing the Principal, we entered the Euroscola competition. Twenty four students and two teachers won a trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Warmest congratulations to all nominees and winners on this very special night. We appreciate and give a special thanks to all the sponsors on the night, Student Council, and all the staff who without their help it would not be possible. Well done to all involved.

Leaving Certificate Graduation

The Sixth Year graduation ceremony took place in the new PE hall.

Ms. A M Dunne our acting Principal opened the ceremony with words of praise for the boys and their sense of community both within and outside the school.

The 6th years looked so grown up and stylish in their very smart suits. Their Year head Mr. P Hastings spoke so highly of the 6th years and Mr. N Sheridan read out some very funny comments by the boys.

The class tutors presented an award to the 6th year form student from each class.

Mr. A O Neill thanked the Student’s Council for all their terrific work over the years.

The Student of the Year 2017, was announced  by Ms. H Thompson our acting Deputy Principal. She spoke so highly of Keith Hudson and then Ms. Dunne presented him with his trophy and gift.

The music was excellent, we had Kevin Rooney, Eoin Lombard, Ben Deane, Conal Cullen Fleming and Luke McArthur. It was very emotional as we knew it was their last time preforming in school. Naturally tied in with that is all the joy they have brought us over the years through their music and hearing Kevin sing.

Ms. A M Dunne closed the ceremony by wishing them every success

in their exams and on their journey through life.

There were a few tears, but certainly a lot of very proud parents and staff.
