Thinking Inside The Box

The Google Experience took over our school for a day and gave us a little glimpse into how simple technology can be integrated into our Teaching and Learning. They brought with them their magic cardboard boxes. Attached inside were phones and with these we could go anywhere in the virtual world. The teacher selected the expedition, guided the class on their tour and the students could see it all three dimensionally. Great excitement and fun was had by all on the day. A big thank you to Ms. Niamh Sullivan for organising and co-ordinating the day.

Jewish Museum

In early April the boys from 2 South and their teacher Ms. Zara Kennedy went on a school trip to the Jewish Museum. The reason for the visit was for their Junior Certificate Journal Work project. They also visited the Jewish Bakery. A great and informative day was had by all.

The Walking Ted

Wednesday 11th May 2016 was a night to remember for all who attended The Walking Ted in Ballymun's Axis Theatre. Our TY Music/Drama students staged and performed their own original play. The play was a comedy/mystery/thriller accompanied by their own live band. It was a triumph! The terrific poster was done by Daniel Tyrell.

WorldWise Global Schools

This year, the school has been working with WorldWise global schools. This is a branch of Irish Aid and helps support the integration of development education in secondary schools. The school was awarded funding at the start of the year. With this grant we were able to participate in Concern debates, organise a speaker from Trocaire for first years, buy books for the library and hold a Fairtrade breakfast.

In recognition of the work the school has done, we were awarded the ‘citizens passport’. This prize acknowledges the work of the Green school’s committee, the Tanzania Immersion programme and other projects and initiatives. The award was collected by Mr. Mc Ginnity at a special ceremony held in Thomond Park, Limerick.
