Run in the Dark

The annual Run in the Dark in aid of the Mark Pollock Trust on Wednesday the 11th of November at 8pm in the city centre. This is the 4th year that students from St. Aidan's have participated in both the 5K and 10K run. There was great atmosphere on the night and students were happy to meet Mark Pollock who was there at the event. St. Aidan's students have raised over €350 which goes toward the Mark Pollock Trust which strives to find the cure for spinal cord injuries..

Immersion Up, Up and Away

The twelve students and three teachers involved in the Tanzania Immersion Team flew out on the Friday of the October mid-term break. They raised an amazing €31,100 since they started their fundraising last December 2014. The students involved were fantastic all the way through showing great determination to meet their target. The students involved were Keith Hodson from 5th year and eleven 6th years, Robert Collins, Dillon Constantine, Michael Cullen, David Finn, Brian Flanagan, Jack Foster, Conor Gerrard, Jerome Linkwinstar, Seán Powney, Seán McCabe and Dylan Sweeney. The teachers who so enthusiastically helped organize the students and the fundraising with such great success were Mr. P Traynor, Ms. P Nash and Ms. N Ni Bhraonain.

What an experience they had from start to finish and really had become fully immersed in this project an experience that will stay with the students forever. Well done to all the students, teachers, parents and the wider school community for their support with Immersion.

What the Romans Ate

Congratulations to 1 North who participated so enthusiastically in a Team Teaching History lesson entitled “What the Romans Ate”. This was part of a project St. Aidan’s is involved in with Maynooth University. Hopefully there will be no stuffed dormice or peacock tongues for Christmas dinner this year!!
