Awards Night is such a special evening which embodies so many great qualities of our students. Ms Brennan opened the evening and as the organiser of the Awards Night did so in her very capable, organised and very calm way. Ms Thompson always does a wonderful job as MC which helps the night flow so smoothly.
Our guest speaker on the night was Mr. John Horan who is a former President of the GAA. He has been a leader and visionary and has addressed the Seanad. He is a ‘Na Fianna’ man and has a close connection with the school. His speech was an inspiration, he talked about respect, resilience and relationships, he spoke also about always staying humble as a person in relation to anything you get in life. This resonated with so many of us. He spoke of the wonderful traditions in the school that instils great values in the students and that was one of the reasons he had chosen to send his son to the school. He said the things you remember are the things you are recognised for at events like Awards Night and told the students that they were very lucky to be in a school like St. Aidan’s.
Warmest congratulations to all nominees and winners on this very special night. We appreciate and give a special thanks to all the sponsors on the night, the Student Council, and all the staff without whose help it would not be possible.
