The band was set up in 2014 with the support of Ballymun Music Programme and DU Dublin. It is coordinated by the Music Teacher Richard Gill.
Instrument instruction on brass and wind musicians is provided in the school by musicians Ray Martin, Ciaran Wilde Jonathan Clifford. The band have performed many concerts in the school as well as in the Helix, Axis Theatre and most recently, in collaboration with other local schools in the TU Concert Hall. In 2016 they performed for President Micheal D Higgins. The band is always interested in recruiting new members, not limited to brass or wind instruments but also guitar, bass and drums.
