What a fantastic weekend it was for St. Aidan's Athletics on Saturday 9th March in Tymon Park Tallaght for the All-Ireland Senior title. It is 50 years since St. Aidan's won their All-Ireland Senior Title in Tuam Racecourse - what a way to make the lads of '74 proud.

An outstanding performance by all the athletics on the day. A very proud moment for Mr. O Neill and Mr. Gleeson.

Congratulations to our brilliant cross country team of Cillian Keegan, Sam Murray, Cathal O Neill, Josh Mahon, Rory Quill, Tom Breslin, Jack McDonnell and Devan Morrisey.

Congratulations also to all our athletes who took part in early February in the Leinster Schools’ Cross Country in the Phoenix Park. Well done to the seniors who took silver in a very competitive race.

On May 13th we will proudly represent St. Aidan's, Dublin and Ireland at the World Schools Cross Country at the Ogogo Hills Racecourse, Nairobi, Kenya.

Incredibly, we may have a past pupil and a member of staff representing Ireland at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. Michelle Finn and Cathal Doyle (Class of 2016) could be stepping onto the track in late July, early August. We have had 3 Olympians - Owen Casey (Tennis), John (Kippers) McQuaid (Cycling) and Niall Bruton (Athletics). No end to the talented athletes in the school.

Well done to past pupil Cathal Doyle who has qualified for this year's World Athletics Championships in the 1,500m. Cathal ran a PB in the Diamond League in Rome (3.32.15), the second fastest time ever for an Irishman.

The 1st years were taken on a school trip to Emerald Park on a day when there was glorious sunshine as a reward for all their hard work during the year. The following is written by Darragh from 1st year after enjoying the trip so much.
