Innovation Award

Congratulations to two of our Transition Year Students, Daragh Murphy and Anthony Vilcu on winning the Innovation Award at the Student Enterprise Programme Dublin City Finals, which took place on Wednesday 29th February at the Mansion House.

This achievement followed their success at our annual St. Aidan's Enterprise Trade Show which took place in December. Their business, Homework Hero, was a cutting edge and highly sustainable digital journal which eliminated the need for physical journals and reduces costs for schools. It also eradicates the need to cut down tens of thousands of trees in Ireland every year as well as making it more transparent for homework allocation by teachers and ensuring convenience to students.

The two students were unlucky to win the overall award, but were up against some incredible competition, and made us proud in how they represented St. Aidan’s. Well done to both and hopefully this has inspired entrepreneurship throughout our TY group.

The 1st years were taken on a school trip to Emerald Park on a day when there was glorious sunshine as a reward for all their hard work during the year. The following is written by Darragh from 1st year after enjoying the trip so much.
