The Kings of Kings

After a long cross-country season that saw our boys win the Leinster Relays, Dublin Cross- Country and the North Leinster title, we headed to a blustery SETU Arena in Waterford to try and capture the All-Ireland crown.

Preparations had been smooth and we were confident of a very strong performance, as so it proved. Our super Seniors were very unlucky to miss out on bronze by just 4 points. The team was made up of Sean Boyne, Cillian Keegan, Sam Murray, Charlie Mahon, Reece Fahey, Dave Fanning, Ryan Wall Magee and Owen Hayes.

An incredible performance from the under 17's brought home the Gold. The team was made up of Tom Breslin, Rory Quill, Devan Morrisey, Sean Henry, Melvin Binoy, Alister Anith, Jack McDonnell and Tadgh O' Brien. They battled hard with a strong Scoil Mhuire, Mullingar teams and a hardy crew from St. Michael's Enniskillen. In the end the score was level with the Fermanagh men only for us to win on the countback. It could hardly have been closer but the cup was coming home to Whitehall. Good news also filtered through that Tom had secured his second Irish cap. To add to our delight we were told that we had qualified for the ISF World Cross Country championship in 2024. What a day for the school and what a season it has been.

Our attention now turns to Track season. Surely it couldn't be as good?

Well done to past pupil Cathal Doyle who has qualified for this year's World Athletics Championships in the 1,500m. Cathal ran a PB in the Diamond League in Rome (3.32.15), the second fastest time ever for an Irishman.

The 1st years were taken on a school trip to Emerald Park on a day when there was glorious sunshine as a reward for all their hard work during the year. The following is written by Darragh from 1st year after enjoying the trip so much.
